Home Office webchat: Problem Solving

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in Blog

On Wednesday 9th April 2008 between 12 and 2pm, the Police & Partnership Standards Unit is hosting an online chat on the topic of problem solving. Online chats are an opportunity for practitioners to have an informal discussion about crime reduction and community safety issues. A full panel of practitioners from police forces and CDRP agencies will be taking part..

To join in simply log on to http://www.crimereduction.gov.uk/chat/ on the day. You need to be registered to take part, but registration only takes a minute and you can use your account right away. Everyone taking part will be emailed an electronic copy of the transcript of the session a short time after the event.

If you can’t make the session, but have a burning question, email it to alex.blackwell@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and it will be asked on the day. A few weeks after the chat an edited transcript of the key questions and discussions will be posted on the website.

Next session: On Thursday 1st May PPSU will be running two consecutive chats. Chat 1 between 12:00-14:00 will be hosted by the Prolific and Priority Offender and Drug Intervention Programme workstreams. Chat 2 between 14.30-16.30 will be on the Satisfaction Gap between BME and white victims of crime.

I took part as a panel member in a recent online Citizen Focus ‘chat’ and there was a good debate had by all. It’s an initiative worth supporting. Give it a go if you can.
