Creating effective CDRP’s and negotiating LAA’s

Friday, September 21, 2007 in Blog

Many times are we blessed. A veritable cornucopia of documents with an impact on the delivery of policing services have been launched recently. Unfortunately, because they will have a significant (not to mention statutory) impact on service design, creation and delivery, it means that you will have to read and digest them. I have uploaded all three to the downloads section (top right column: All documents – click here for downloads).

‘Delivering Safer Communities: A guide to effective partnership working’ is the latest Home Office Guidance to CDRP’s and Community Safety Partnerships. The document is built around the four elements of Lead & Guide, Assess, Plan, Deliver. It includes the six Hallmarks of Effective Partnerships ( Empowered and Effective Leadership, Visible and Constructive Accountability, Intelligence-led Business Processes, Effective and Responsive Delivery Structures, Engaged Communities, Appropriate Skills and Knowledge) each of which contains statutory provisions and suggested practice and guidance.

‘Negotiating New LAA’s’ is the latest page turner from DCLG. The report is presented in three sections. An overview of LAA’s, a collection of views on LAA’s and a collection of stakeholder narratives which provide real life examples of LAA negotiations and issues.

This jaunty little read is accompanied by a publication setting out the ‘LAA dry run’ experiences and key learning points of 17 partnerships, nine Government Offices and Government Departments.

How will you stand the excitement…?
